Two years ago, I started working on a farm in Efland picking strawberries. I loved being outside, working with my hands, and soaking up the sunshine. A few weeks later, I was moved to the cut flower side of the farm—and I was hooked.
I fell in love with growing flowers and had a thought: Maybe I could grow cut flowers myself.
Today, I grow and sell locally grown cut flowers, with the hope of sharing more of what this farm produces as it grows.
Since then, I've had the opportunity to learn from flower growers in Orange County, North Carolina, and in Hawaii. Along the way, I discovered that I didn't just want to grow flowers—I wanted to create something of my own.
But Three Silos Cut Flowers is about more than beautiful blooms.
As farms and open land disappear, so does habitat for the pollinators and wildlife that depend on it. I want Three Silos to be a little haven where bees, butterflies, birds, and other beneficial creatures can find food, shelter, and a healthy place to live.
My long-term goal is to build a small, diversified farm centered around cut flowers, native perennial plants, and locally raised beef—a sustainable ecosystem where flowers, soil, wildlife, and people can all thrive together. I also envision the farm as a welcoming gathering place, where our community can connect with nature, enjoy good food, learn about sustainable agriculture, and come together for flower workshops, community events, and seasonal celebrations.
I want to create something that gives back to the land and the people who call this community home.
So, somewhere between the strawberries, a whole lot of learning, and lots of help from Mom, Three Silos Cut Flowers was born.
Welcome. I'm so glad you're here.
